Prototype development

Many good ideas die between the whiteboard and the first working version. We build that first version: a prototype that runs, that real users can try, and that is honest about what it does and does not yet do. The point is to learn whether the idea holds before committing to a full product.

What we build

• Web applications and the backends behind them
• Mobile and wearable applications, including watch apps
• Internal tools, integrations and data pipelines
• Hardware-adjacent prototypes where software meets sensors, devices or existing equipment

How it works

A prototype engagement is scoped to a fixed goal and a fixed budget, typically a few weeks. We agree on what the prototype has to demonstrate, build it in the open with something running early, and hand over the source code and the deployment at the end. What we learn on the way is part of the delivery: if the idea does not work, saying so early is cheaper than shipping it.

Prototypes are built with the same tooling we use for our own products — small, deployable, self-hosted where it makes sense, and without dependencies you cannot replace later.

Our own applications

HabitRing

HabitRing is a habit tracker for Garmin watches, published by Stenite AB. Habits are tracked on the watch itself — names, targets, schedules and history stay on the device and are never uploaded to us. It is the kind of small, self-contained software we like to build: one job, done on the device, with no account to create.

Work in progress

We develop further applications under the Stenite name, currently including mobile applications for iOS and Android. Details are published here as they are released.
